Terms of service

Please note: these are plain-language terms describing how we intend to work. Have them reviewed by your own adviser before relying on them, and tell us if anything here does not suit your organisation.

What we provide

Access to the Chess Classrooms software for the plan you have chosen, for as long as your subscription is paid. We keep it running, back it up and improve it over time.

Your account

• You are responsible for what your staff do with their logins.
• Keep passwords private, and tell us if you think an account has been misused.
• You must have parental consent before adding a child to the platform.
• Do not use the platform for anything unlawful, or to hold data you have no right to hold.

Paying

• Plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance, by invoice.
• Invoices are due within seven days.
• If an invoice stays unpaid past the grace period on your plan, the account is paused. Pay and it reopens at once with everything intact. If it stays unpaid, the account's data is permanently deleted 30 days after it was paused. We remind the account's administrators by email and WhatsApp before then.
• Prices may change with thirty days' notice. A yearly plan holds its price for the year.

Your data

Your students, attendance, fees and games belong to you. You can export them at any time. We do not sell them, use them to advertise, or share them with anyone but the suppliers named in our privacy notice.

Stopping

You may stop at the end of any billing period; tell us before it renews. We will export your data for you and delete it within ninety days. We may end an account for non-payment or serious misuse, and we will always tell you why first.

What we cannot promise

We work hard to keep the platform available, but we do not promise it will never be down, and we do not promise it is free of faults. Live video depends on your internet connection and on Daily.co. We are not liable for indirect losses, and our liability in any case is limited to the fees you paid us in the preceding twelve months.

Third-party software

The platform includes Stockfish (GPL v3) and chess.js (BSD), used unchanged and credited in the software. Their licences apply to those components.

Where disputes go

These terms are governed by Indian law, and the courts of Kolkata have jurisdiction.
