Read this first: this notice describes how we intend to handle personal data. It is not legal advice, and before you rely on it for your own compliance you should have it reviewed by your own adviser — particularly if you are a school.
Chess Classrooms provides software to chess academies, clubs and schools. Where an academy uses our software, the academy decides what data is collected about its students; we hold and process it on their instruction.
Most students on this platform are under eighteen, and we treat that seriously.
On servers in India. Video calls are carried by Daily.co and may pass through servers outside India while the call is happening; call content is not recorded or stored by us.
Only the people who need to:
If a student links a lichess or Chess.com account, we read their public games from those services. No password is asked for, and none is stored.
For as long as the academy's account is open. When an academy leaves, we delete their data within ninety days unless they ask for it sooner; an account paused for non-payment has its data deleted 30 days after the pause. Enquiries from this website are kept for two years.
You may ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are a student or parent, ask your academy first — they hold the account. If you enquired through this site, write to us and we will act within thirty days.
Passwords are stored hashed and can never be read back, not even by us. Access is restricted by role. Every academy's data is kept separate from every other academy's. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects you we will tell you.
